Cookie Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how DualFiler (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our Platform, what types of cookies we use, the information they collect, and how you can manage your cookie preferences. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, tablet, or mobile device by websites you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to provide information to website operators, and to enable certain features such as analytics and advertising. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by third parties whose services the website uses (“third-party cookies”).

2. Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. We use the following essential cookies:

Cookie NamePurposeDurationType
cookie_consentStores your cookie consent preferences1 yearFirst-party
session_idMaintains your browsing sessionSessionFirst-party

3. Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to understand how visitors use our Platform. GA4 uses the following cookies:

Cookie NamePurposeDurationType
_gaDistinguishes unique visitors using a randomly generated client ID2 yearsThird-party (Google)
_ga_*Maintains session state for GA4 measurement2 yearsThird-party (Google)

What GA4 analytics cookies track:

  • Pages viewed and navigation paths
  • Time spent on each page and scroll depth
  • Browser type, operating system, and screen resolution
  • Approximate geographic location (city-level, derived from anonymized IP)
  • Referring website or search engine
  • Device type (mobile, desktop, tablet)

We have enabled IP anonymization in our GA4 configuration (anonymize_ip: true). We do not use Google Signals, User-ID, or any feature that links analytics data to identifiable individuals.

4. Advertising Cookies (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Platform. Google and its advertising partners may set the following types of cookies:

Cookie NamePurposeDurationType

__gpiUsed by Google to serve personalized ads13 monthsThird-party (Google)

NIDStores visitor preferences and displays relevant Google ads6 monthsThird-party (Google)

Advertising cookies enable Google to show you ads that are more relevant to your interests. If you opt out of personalized advertising, you will still see ads, but they will be generic rather than tailored to your browsing history.

5. How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find cookie settings in your browser’s “Settings,” “Preferences,” or “Privacy” section. Here are links to cookie management instructions for major browsers:

Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some features on the Platform. Essential cookies cannot be disabled without potentially breaking the site.

6. Global Privacy Control (GPC) Signal

DualFiler respects the Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal. The GPC is a browser-level signal that communicates your privacy preferences to websites you visit. When we detect a valid GPC signal from your browser:

  • We will treat it as a valid request to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
  • We will disable non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising) for your session.
  • Only essential cookies required for the Platform to function will remain active.

You can enable GPC in supported browsers (such as Firefox, Brave, and DuckDuckGo) or by installing the Global Privacy Control browser extension.

7. How to Opt Out

You have several options for opting out of non-essential cookies:

  1. Cookie consent banner: When you first visit the Platform, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies. Your preference is stored in the cookie_consent cookie and will be respected on subsequent visits.
  2. Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent GA4 from collecting data about your visits.
  3. Google Ads personalization: Visit Google Ads Settings to opt out of personalized advertising.
  4. Industry opt-out tools: Visit DAA Opt-Out or Your Online Choices (EU) to manage advertising preferences across multiple ad networks.
  5. Browser settings: Adjust your browser settings to block third-party cookies as described in Section 5.
  6. GPC signal: Enable Global Privacy Control in your browser as described in Section 6.

8. Cookie Consent Mechanism

Upon your first visit to the Platform, a cookie consent banner will appear at the bottom of the screen. The banner provides the following options:

  • Accept All: Enables all cookies (essential, analytics, and advertising).
  • Essential Only: Enables only cookies that are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. Analytics and advertising cookies will not be loaded.

Your consent preference is stored in a first-party cookie (cookie_consent) that expires after 1 year. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the Platform, which will trigger the consent banner again.

9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our use of cookies. When we make changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically.
